THIS IS GROUND CONTROL...
Notorious Australian outlaw Ned Kelly was the theme of MTV’s 2008 awards, and so production company Collider took this a step further by creating three characters: M, T and V. They dressed them in purpose-built white helmets and suits, then made the characters compete in a series of farfetched events——each representative of the award categories. The events were filmed as an over-the-top, but artful parody, of the high speed filming technique.
We adorned the characters’ helmets for the Hip Hop and Metal categories, and created a giant test pattern for them to leap into. Steph even made puppet stunt-doubles to stand-in when things got a little hot.
